We opened our new space in the Grove neighborhood [4237 Manchester Ave, 63110] on Sunday, January 1. Come see us in the Grove! All of our regular yoga classes (our drop in yoga class schedule) are at our new location. (UB-Dogtown will host prenatal yoga, yoga teacher training and other workshops only.)

New to yoga? Curious but not sure what to expect? Our Yoga 101 workshop is made just for you. Learn the ins and outs of yoga in this safe, fun beginner introduction to yoga workshop. You'll cover the fundamental poses, breath and meditation techniques that form the foundation of yoga. Leave class with a basic understanding of poses and class flow. You be prepared to drop in to Yoga Basics and even "all level" classes.
This workshop is perfect for people brand new students but also for students who want to review the basics. The cost for this two hour workshop is $30 and includes a one week yoga pass. (Student brand new to UB can register for this workshop and also get our new student $30 month so you don't have to choose between one or the other.)

Yoga for Beginners: five-week series
This five-class Beginner Series designed as a simple introduction to the fundamentals yoga. These classes provide a slower paced program with more description, analysis, and commentary. Explore different basic poses in each classes and learn to approach them safely. Breath awareness and relaxation also are introduced. Gain the confidence to join regular yoga classes. The five classes occur once a week for five consecutive weeks.
This series moves at a measured pace, introducing basic postures as well as the different aspects of the practice each week:
1st week- feet and thigh function in alignment (grounding the body)
2nd week- downward dog (the fundamental pose)
3rd week -warrior 1 and 2 (standing like a mountain)
4th week-cobra (what makes the back bend)
5th week-shoulder stand (upside down and calm down)
Yoga for Beginners will teach you how to move safely into and out of the poses, as well as how to modify the poses for your body. You will gain a basic understanding of the language of the practice and – most importantly – you will learn to control your actions and to steady your body, your breath and your mind.
