FAQ-Yoga for Peace

$20 is a lot for me. Can I give less?
You are welcome to give whatever you feel is right for you. $20  suggested donation amount, but this is a  suggestion. If you have no money to give right now, that is fine as well. Please don't let that keep you from coming.

I am new to yoga. Can I still come?
Yes, yes and yes! We do not mind if you do 1 of every 12 salutation! We do not mind if you sit in silent meditation. You are even welcome to come and be an onlooker. Whatever you feel comfortable doing is alright. That said, yoga instructors will be at the event milling about and at anytime if you feel you need help or a helpful suggestion you can raise your hand and someone will come round to assist you.

Where does the money go?
The focus of the event is the experience, not raising money. The money you give first goes to providing production costs for this beautiful experience and then to provide "seed" money for next year's event in St Louis. Then we team with all of the other cities around the world to be sure that everyone's costs are covered. Anything left over is then pooled together and given to a non-profit for peace organization that we choose together.

"We are not Fund Raisers. We are Yogis intent on creating Peace through YOGA, and sending the message to the community, the yogis themselves, and the people of the world, that each one of us is responsible for creating PEACE ... we cannot leave it to the world's leaders who think peace is achieved through war, violence, and destruction. And peace only comes through creating balance inside ... hence the practice of Yoga, and in the demonstration of 108 Sun salutations, specifically designed to enliven all aspects of the body's systems and organ....a profound inner harmony and balance is created, and the result is greater inner peace, and for some a profound inner peace. This is what we are offering to the world and the local Yoga communities. This understanding and this direct experience. "

This year, 2010, the proceeds go to City Seeds here in St Louis.  Read about them here.
