Class Levels

It is important when chosing your class to be aware of not only the style but also the level of the class.   If you are unsure which is the right level for you talk with your instructor or contact the studio.

Basics-  for the absolute beginner
I - Beginning or returning to your practice
II - Intermediate
III - Advanced
Open - all levels welcome

Hatha

[level I-II]
This class will incorporate some more intermediate postures and will move a little quicker than the basics class. Some previous yoga experience is recommended but variations will be shown to offer different levels of challenge for both the beginning and the intermediate student.

[level III]
Challenge your body and mind in this advanced class!  Aimed at building physical strength and flexibility as well as mental focus and determination, this class will include advanced inversions, deep backbends, arm balances, and plenty of pranayama. Experience required.

[open level]
This challenging and nurturing mix of yoga styles is open to all levels. Find your breath, balance and center. Strenghten and stretch both body and mind.

Yoga Basics

Designed for true beginners, this class offers an introduction to the very basics of yoga. Fundamental postures, alignment, breathing, and relaxation techniques will be covered in a safe and fun environment. All levels of fitness and experience welcome.

Power Vinyasa

This flowing practice is directed at creating the highest level of energy, vitality, and freedom. The only way to do this is to work with yourself, not against yourself. Be prepared to sweat!  Some yoga experience necessary.  Not recommended for beginners.

Vinyasa Flow

[level I]
Level I vinyasa flow class for those new to this practice.  Enjoy this great intro to a most strengthening, flowing, fun and popular practice.  Some basic yoga knowlege needed.

Here we focus on developing meditation and breath within a strengthening, flowing, fun Vinyasa based practice. All levels welcome although beginners may find this class challenging.

Gentle Yoga

[open level]
This class designed for students who need deep relaxation and stress relief. You will practice gentle poses to open your muscles, restorative poses to replenish the body, and basic meditations to calm the mind. Gentle yoga welcomes beginners as well as experienced students.

Happy Hour Yoga

[level II]
Welcome the weekend with an uplifting yoga class! This vinyasa flow class, set to upbeat music, is designed to enliven the body and spirit with flowing and creative yoga postures. Here you will energize, develop strength, detoxify the body, and have fun! Intermediate level and up welcome.

Meet outside in front of the Forest Park Visitor’s Center and join us for a fun class open to everyone. Bring your mat, water bottle, and a donation for your teacher.  Click here for information on the Visitor's Center.   Sundays, 10am-11am until the end of September.

Slow Flow Vinyasa

[open level]
In this slower paced vinyasa class, poses are held for longer periods of time to allow for a deeper experience of the pose. Equal emphasis is placed on building strength and balance, breathing mindfully, increasing flexibility, strengthening mental focus, and relaxing into the moment.

Power Core Vinyasa

[level II]
Transform not only physically but mentally with this high energy, strength building, intermediate vinyasa flow class which focuses on breath and, most importantly, core strength.  Cultivate your inner strength on the mat and learn to apply it off the mat as you enjoy a mix of flowing movement and creative, challenging poses. Intermediate level yogis and up are welcome in this class.

Take a yoga break! Energize and replenish your body and mind with this midday class, open to all levels.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic, powerful tool for expanding awareness. It is an integrated and authentic system of exercise, breath control, and meditation that has been practiced in India for millennia. Kundalini Yoga is safe, comprehensive, and simple. It promotes physical health, stimulates the mind’s potential, and touches one’s innermost being. It is ideal for all of us who cope daily with the challenges and stress of holding jobs, raising families, and managing life.  All levels welcome.
