New Student Information

Where are you located?
UB::Dogtown, our friendly, sweet studio is located at HWY 40 and Hampton in the Dogtown Neighborhood. Exit Hampton South from HWY 40, take a right Clayton Avenue, and turn left at Tamm.

How do I sign up for classes? Can I just show up?
You can just show up for any of our classes. We do have an online studio management system called the WebScheduler where you can buy class packages, sign-in online to save a spot and see up to the minute class changes such as teacher substitutions and bad weather cancellation. You can take advantage of this convenient system if you like but it is not necessary. If it works out best for you, just come to studio for the class you'd like to take.

What classes can I take? Do I need to bring anything?
The only class for an absolute beginner is Yoga Basics. If you have taken a few classes a while back or if you are athletic and fit but brand new to yoga you are welcome in Kundalini, Hatha, Yoga Lunch, Level I and Open Yoga classes.

For Level II and up ask that you have experience and are very comfortable with yoga.

For your first class you should come with an empty stomach, comfortable clothes and an open mind. Be prepared to take off your shoes at the door. We have mats, blocks and straps at the studio that you can use. Bring your own mat if you have it. It always feels better to practice on your own mat.

New student form
We will ask you to fill in a New student Form when you arrive to the studio. If you'd like to save a few minutes, you can print the new student form here and bring it to your first class.

A few thing you should know...
Yoga is more than physical exercise. It is a transformative practice that integrates body, mind and spirit. Yoga practice is a way of releasing physical, mental, and emotional tensions to arrive at deeper levels of relaxation and awareness.

  • Always inform your teacher prior to class of any health issues that may affect your performance during the class.
  • Listen to your teacher's instructions carefully.
  • Breathe smoothly and continuously as you move and stretch.
  • Do not hold your breath or strain to attain any positions.
  • Work gently, respecting your body's abilities and limits.
  • Don't perform posture or movements that are painful.
  • Ask your teacher questions if you are unsure of how to perform a certain movement.
  • Pregnant women should consult their heathcare provider before beginning a practice.
  • Menstuating women should not practice inverted postures.
Awareness is fundamental to the practice of yoga. As a student, it is solely your responsibility to monitor each activity offered and determine whether it is appropriate to participate. Though a teacher is present to give instruction you remain primarily responsilbe for your safety and well being.
