Why Sivananda Yoga:
Sivananda yoga considers yoga a discipline which reinforces strength of body, mind and soul. In this YTT we present primarily Sivananda yoga complimented by various other styles of Hatha yoga. These different angles and possibilities open your mind to a universal style. This approach gives you a strong foundation from which to grow internally and externally, developing a solid, traditional practice and an extensive knowlege of this ancient discipline.

About Hatha yoga:
Hatha yoga is a highly effective method of asana practice, which quickly builds strength, increases flexibility and clears toxins out of the body. This method includes numerous sequences of asanas (yoga postures). Vinyasa (fluid movements, which are initiated by either the inhaling or exhaling breath) linking one posture to another. The practice of asanas stimulates the cardiovascular system and creates heat in the body, which eases the body into the Asanas. Continuing yoga practice removes impurities and strengthens the functions of the body and mind.

Yoga Teacher Training Topics Include:

  • Intensive Practice of the Postures of Yoga
  • The principles of Vinyasa, Bandhas, Pranayama
  • Adjustments and Teaching Techniques
  • Assisting and Supervised Teaching
  • Introduction to Anatomy
  • Meditation Instruction
  • and Philosophy of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras

A Yoga Teacher Training Manual is supplied to each participant. To those who attend all scheduled classes, a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate is issued at the end of the course. Included in the cost of the course is a 10-Class Card at Urban Breath Yoga.

Testimonials
"This is a wonderful training to lay your groundwork down for being a teacher. You get the chance to explore different styles of yoga but the focus of this particular training is to really understand the roots of yoga. Jamie teaches with love, understanding and a wealth of knowledge. You will undergo a complete transformation through his training that will help you become a wonderful teacher and give you confidence you didn’t know you had. Thank you Jamie and Urban Breath for a wonderful experience that will carry me through my career." - Ashley Baker, YTT 2009

"My yoga teacher training experience with Jaime has been so valuable, in both my teaching and in my personal life. The training helped me to gain a thorough knowledge of the physical and mental/emotional benefits of the yoga postures, how to structure an effective yoga class, and how to modify postures and sequences. Jaime's training also encouraged me to delve deeply into yoga philosophy, which has positively affected many aspects of my personal and spiritual life as well as how I instruct my yoga classes. I greatly appreciated Jaime's wealth of knowledge of yoga and natural healing, as well as his gentle and encouraging approach in teaching; he has a genuine concern for and connection with each of his students. Having established a strong foundation for practicing and teaching yoga through Jaime's training, I have the confidence and knowledge to personalize my yoga instruction to reflect who I am and best meet my students' individual needs."
- Laurie Brockhaus, RYT at Urban Breath Yoga

" I want to express my appreciation of your training. You have given me additional perspective and understanding of mind and body well-being." - David M. Portland Oregon

"A great yoga instructor training." - Shandi Finnessey (Miss USA 2004)

"For the last few years [Jaime] has taught a yoga teachers training course [at St Louis University]. I have worked with him closely on these classes. Each year he has expanded and improved this course which has required more and more from him." - Glen K. Coordinator of Fitness Programs, Saint Louis
