Teacher Training FAQ
This Yoga Teacher Training course is hosted by Urban Breath Yoga, taught by Dr. Jaime Sanchez and certificates of completion are issued through East-West Natural Healing (EWNH).
Q: Where will the training take place?
A: Most of the classes will be at Urban Breath Yoga, 1220 Tamm Ave St Louis MO 63118 Occasionally the class will meet at another location such as Elements of Wellness to do the anatomy part of the course and, if weather permits, classes are sometimes held in the park.
Q: What are the qualifications to join the YTT program?
A: Participants must be active yoga students for at least twelve months prior to the training in any style and maintain a regular asana practice (at least 3 days per week). Without this, it would be premature to consider teaching, because it’s important to be physically, emotionally and mentally prepared for the intensity of the program.
Q: After completion of the training can I teach?
A: Yes, you’ll learn most of the basic asanas and techniques, how to practice and combine them in the most enjoyable, safe and effective ways for beginner students. This program also includes basic training to teach pregnant women, senior and participants with special needs.
Q: How do I handle class absences?
A: Yoga Alliance requires attending all the classes of the course. You are allowed to miss only one day. If you miss more than one, you must request a private make-up class at the time set by the instructor at the cost of $30.00 per hour class. Often there are opportunities to make-up class hours in group at less or no cost.
To obtain certification as a 200-hours Basic Level East-West Natural Healing Yoga training, students must:
1. Attend all required activities and classes of the East-West Natural Healing Yoga Teacher Training program.
2. Complete all written and reading assignments and satisfactorily pass the written and practical tests.
